Frequently asked questions

Welcome to Sip & Play 🎲☕

Your Friendly Neighborhood Board Game Café

New here? Amazing. A little confused? Totally normal.
Here’s everything you need to know before your first visit.

🎲 Games & Playing

So… how does this work?

Easy! There’s a per-person play fee that gives you access to our entire board game library for your visit. Grab a table, pick a game, order something tasty, and let the fun begin. Monday to Thursday is our weekday pricing at $10 while Friday to Sunday is our weekend pricing at $12.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are a great idea for weekends, evenings, and groups. Walk-ins are always welcome when we have space! Reservations are also slightly more expensive at $15 a person. We’ll hold a small deposit and on the day of we’ll charge for the rest.

Is there a time limit?

Your play fee covers three hours of game time. If we’re not busy and you’re mid-game, we’ll usually let you keep playing — just check in with us.

What if I don’t know how to play any games?

Perfect. You’re in the right place.
Our staff loves recommending games and explaining rules, especially if you’re new.

What kind of games do you have?

Short answer: a lot.
Long answer: party games, strategy games, classics, two-player games, family favorites, and hidden gems you didn’t know you’d love.

Can I bring my own game?

Absolutely! Bring it along — the play fee still applies.

Food & Drinks

Do I have to order food or drinks?

You don’t have to, but we’d love it if you did. Snacks and sips help keep the games (and the lights) on 💛

What’s on the menu?

Coffee, bubble tea, fun drinks, sandwiches, and light bites — all very game-night approved.

Can I bring outside food or drinks?

We ask that you enjoy food and drinks from our menu instead. If you have a dietary concern, just chat with us.

Vegetarian or allergy-friendly options?

Yes! We’ve got vegetarian options and are happy to help with allergy questions.

👯 Dates, Groups & Events

Is Sip & Play good for dates?

We’re biased, but yes — board games are basically a cheat code for low-pressure fun.

What about groups?

We love groups! Bigger parties should reserve ahead so we can seat everyone comfortably.

Can I host a birthday or event here?

Absolutely. Birthdays, meetups, and private events are kind of our thing. Reach out to sipnplaynyc@gmail.com for details.
